The bomber jacket’s fashion makeover is a few seasons old, but its versatility makes it a perennial fashion favorite, and ubiquitous trend. Jared and Brooke Zaugg, the duo behind the Phoenix Project, have truly unique take on the look inspired by a singular moment in music history. In 1956 America’s most popular musicians, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis found themselves at Memphis, Tennessee’s legendary Sun Studio’s for an impromptu jam session. A local newspaper, the Memphis Press-Scimitar, captured the moment and published an article about the ‘Million Dollar Quartet.’ The archival photos of the jam session show Elvis in a nubuck leather jacket. These photos inspired Jared and Brook to create the Elvis Presley Million Dollar Quartet Jacket for Bench & Loom . This limited edition is a meticulous recreation crafted in France by the artisans of the 180-year old Chapal leather-works.

The CHAPAL + PHOENIX PROJECT Elvis Presley Million Dollar Quartet Jacket ($1,800) is available now in a limited of 30 pieces from Bench & Loom .
