Opening Ceremony’s oceanic-inspired Spring/Summer 2015 collection mixed graphic prints of enlarged palm fronds and op art knits with cool greys and blues to create a luxuriously quirky approach to spring dressing. “We wanted to embrace cool greys, and a way of doing a light blue that felt really masculine,” said Humberto Leon. “We loved taking pique materials that are often seen in formalwear, and incorporating them into casual elements.”
The fusion of athleticism with tailoring was evident in the styling, fabrications and footwear. Spring shorts paired with latex-coated cotton jackets, elongated trench coats and knit sweaters emphasized the point. The narrative continued with a particularly strong selection of shoes. Accessories designer Zoe Wendel updated the classic Arrow with an elastic strap closure and the M1, which will now feature a Velcro closure. “We were looking to simplify all shoes by removing laces,” said Wendel.
