Umit Benan’s first Paris runway show was a revelation. Known for his use of non-model models, the Turkish designer knocked it out of the park with a fall 2014 collection inspired by All-American hero Jackie Robinson. Unlike most fashion shows, the inspiration was not a vague notion – this was literal. Benan cast the entire show with black models and used a dirt covered baseball field cum catwalk to launch a collection of generously cut suits, high-waisted trousers and killer varsity jackets.
