Are birds the new black? From t-shirts to backpacks to boxers, avian adorned designs are some of the hottest pieces for Spring/Summer 2013. Ami’s Alexandre Mattiussi leads the way with his “birds of France” print. The Parisian label’s whimsical all over print, covered with wagtails, waxwings and kingfishers, has a relaxed elegance that makes it surprisingly easy to wear.
Bold prints in general are having a menswear moment. Going back a few season to Riccardo Tisci’s growling rottweilers for Givenchy to Kenzo’s current collection of vibrant leopard prints, animal motifs in particular have been a surprising hit with men.
