Imitation As Flattery… Express vs. Burberry

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Burberry’s creative director Christopher Bailey should be flattered. The graphic tribal and ikat prints from his Spring 2012 Prorsum collection were and instant editorial and commercial hit. Both Zara & Topman have already paid tribute to his tribal print t-shirt and now it appears that the design team at Express have found similar inspiration in his SS12 blue and white ikat print. Their cotton/nylon board shorts bear more than a passing resemblance to Burberry’s design. Coincidence?
