Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the House of Smalto. Founded in 1962 by renowned tailor Francesco Smalto, the Parisian house has built its business with a mix of traditional tailoring techniques and innovative design. To celebrate, Smalto created a 50th anniversary ready-to-wear capsule collection that includes accessories and formal wear available at smalto.com.
Smalto’s current creative director, Youn Chong Bak, presented her Spring Summer 2013 collection at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris. As expected, tailoring was the star of the show with precise proportions and strong silhouettes. The designer’s less formal offerings, brightly colored suede jackets, easy trenches and chambray trousers, were also a success.
