Gucci creative director Frida Giannini has teamed up with Hirohiko Araki to create window installations inspired by the label’s 2013 Cruise collection. The renowned Japanese Manga artist’s Jolyne, Fly High with Gucci tells the story of a student, Jolyne Cujoh, who embarks on a journey inspired by her mother’s Gucci collection. The promotion has been installed in Gucci boutiques worldwide.
Giannini is “sure [the Araki] window installations will stop people in their tracks in cities around the world as they immerse themselves in the fabulous fantasy world he has created.” The admiration is mutual. Araki was inspired by “Frida’s beautiful Cruise collection with its strong colours and graphic designs… From there the characters and storyline came into being so naturally. It was very stimulating to work together on this project.”
