Coach Launches ‘Legacy Collection’

Coach is going back to the future. The company is launching the Coach Legacy Collection in an attempt to reclaim the brands heritage. For a generation raised on the firms PVC “C” covered bags and mass market appeal it might be hard to believe that Coach was once thought of as an artisanal brand. Founded in 1941 as a family business in Manhattan with six artisans and a handcrafted collection. Coach still produces some of its original designs under the Classic collection but these products are not marketed and rarely appear in the companies ads.

Coach’s men’s collection escaped some of the excess’ of the women’s line and many of the classic men’s styles, including the Cabin Bag, are still available online. The Coach Legacy Collection includes men’s and women’s pieces and will be introduced for fall 2012.
