Francesco Smalto came from a long tradition of southern Italian tailors. In 1962 Smalto established his company and opened a store in Paris. The House of Smalto distinguished itself with expert tailoring, innovative design and a modern fit. The store sold only made-to-measure suits and Smalto used traditional tailoring to create thoroughly modern clothes. Although better known in the U.S. for his namesake fragrance, in his day Smalto was as innovative and well-known as Courrèges.
Youn Chong Bak, the current creative director of Smalto, maintains the brands tradition of elegant, tailored men’s clothes. Here are some looks from Smalto Autumn Winter 2012 2013.
