JOYCE BY ROMEO GIGLI LAUNCHES JULY 1, 2012

Romeo Gigli is making another comeback. This time he will be backed backed by Hong Kong retailer Joyce. Gigli will create a men’s and women’s collection for the fall season under the name Joyce by Romeo Gigli. The collection will debut on Joyce’s website on July 1 before being rolled out to Joyce stores across China. Joyce by Romeo Gigli will be presented at the stores Hong Kong and Beijing locations on July 24 before moving to Shanghai. At the end of August Joyce will open its first pop-up store in Venice to present the collection. Gigli will support the project by making personal appearances and creating special window installations combining his new line with pieces from his archive.

Romeo Gigli started his signature company in 1983 and achieved success before selling his name to IT Holding and eventually quitting the company in 2004 in a dispute with the owners. The new collection is not an attempt to resurrect his original line. According to WWD, Gigli is determined to move forward and dismissed any thought of drawing inspiration from his past.

Joyce by Romeo Gigli will feature 20 men’s looks for the fall, including creased heavy cotton pants, reversible coats with fox-fur collars, fitted and extra-long jackets and tweed and flannel jackets. Fitted mohair pullovers are worn as vests and colorful shirts with high collars and bow ties. The pieces will retail for $1,800 to $6,300 dollars.
